“The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given to those who are seriously ill by anointing them on the forehead and hands with duly blessed oil” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1513).

Christ has deep compassion toward the sick. Through this sacrament, the Holy Spirit gives the gift of strength, peace and courage, so those who are suffering can unite themselves more closely to Christ’s Passion.

Importantly, the suffering of one is the suffering of all. Like all sacraments, the Anointing of the Sick is a communal celebration, whether in the family home, or at a hospital or church. If you or someone you know requires anointing of the sick, please contact Laurel Thacker first at 206.282.0223 or lthacker@stanneseattle.org and you will be directed to Father Colin.
