Martha’s Workers

For the past 35 years, Martha’s workers have been making sandwiches for our homeless neighbors. They gather every Monday morning at 8:15 AM in the assembly room at St. Anne, and during the school year, four to six enthusiastic middle schoolers join them!

Everyone from the parish is welcome to come, have fun, and help on Monday mornings. Together, they make around 500 sandwiches that are delivered to the following organizations:

  • Martin de Porres
  • Compass Housing
  • Noel House
  • Queen Anne Foodbank
  • Francis House

A lot of magic happens behind the scenes to make their Monday mornings happen! Thanks to generous cash donations, Martha’s Workers have been able to fund their purchases. It takes about $250 each week ($11,500 annually) to keep the magic alive!

Martha’s Workers are incredibly resourceful, making each sandwich for just $0.50. Plus, our school hosts an annual food drive where St. Anne students bring in food donations to help restock their shelves.

Martha’s Workers love receiving “Costco-sized” donations of peanut butter (Jif), jelly, and large jars of mayonnaise (64 ounces). They also appreciate 4-pound cans of tuna from US Foods CHEF’STORE (formerly Cash N Carry), as opening and draining small cans takes too much time for the volunteers to manage.

Or write a check made out to St. Anne’s with the memo line indicating Martha’s Workers.
