Parish Life

Dear Parishioners, dear Friends,

Pentecost is a celebration of vitality, movement, strength, and transformation.

It marks the moment when the Holy Spirit—the very breath of God—descended upon the apostles with the sound of a mighty wind. This divine presence wasn’t still or silent; it stirred the air, ignited hearts, and set people in motion. God’s Spirit is never static. It moves, it inspires, and it empowers.

In that moment, Jesus’ followers were filled with extraordinary courage. They stepped out of their hiding places, raised their voices, and began to share the Good News with the world. The Spirit gave them the strength to speak, to act, and to love boldly.

Today, we pray for that same Spirit to fill our hearts. May it enlighten our minds, deepen our compassion, and bring us together as a vibrant, life-giving community.

After Pentecost, the early Christian community blossomed. People were drawn to the apostles’ joy and conviction, and many were baptized. But as history shows, unity didn’t last forever. We are human, and we stumble. We fall short.

Yet even in our failures, we are not alone. The Spirit of God is always with us—renewing, encouraging, and helping us begin again. It gives us the strength to keep loving, to keep building, and to keep believing in a Church that is alive and full of hope.

So, with that spirit in mind, I wish you a joyful and uplifting Pentecost. May the Holy Spirit renew each of us and breathe new life into our hearts and our world.

A Soulful Offering of Schubert’s Ave Maria

Just a few days ago, this beautiful rendition of Schubert’s “Ave Maria” was recorded—and now we’re excited to share it with you!

Performed with heartfelt grace by our Music Director, Sung Lee, and the talented Maria Perez of Our Lady of Fatima, this piece is sure to bring peace and inspiration to your day.

Take a moment to listen and be blessed. Watch the video here:

St. Martin Food Program – Be Part of Something Meaningful

For the past 18 years, our parish family at Our Lady of Fatima has been sharing hope and nourishment through the St. Martin Food Program. Every meal we prepare for the men at St. Martin de Porres is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved.

This ministry is powered by everyday people like you—families, friends, and neighbors—coming together to make a difference. If you’ve been looking for a simple, hands-on way to help others, we’d love to have you join us!

Here’s How You Can Help:

  • What to Bring: Each volunteer or family prepares 10 individually wrapped “hearty protein” sandwiches and extras such as small cans of pop, juice, water; breakfast bars, chips, cookies, snacks such as peanut butter crackers, instant soups; zip locks with cherry tomatoes, olives, pickles, strawberries.
  • When & Where: Drop off your items in the Fatima parking lot between 4:30–5:00 PM on scheduled Tuesdays. Our awesome drivers will take it from there using the Parish bus.
  • Flexible & Easy: Most folks help out once a month, but you can join in whenever it works for you.

Upcoming Volunteer Dates:

  • June: 10 & 24
  • July: 8 & 22
  • August: 12 & 26
  • September: 9 & 23

Every sandwich, every snack, every kind gesture makes a real impact. Let’s keep this beautiful tradition going—together.

Great News from Sacred Heart of Jesus!

As of June 3rd, Sacred Heart of Jesus has officially reached its ACA goal with 41 donors contributing $24,997 in gifts and pledges!

Heartfelt thanks to everyone—your giving spirit is changing lives.

What is the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA)?

The ACA is a yearly fundraising campaign. It supports ministries and services that benefit the entire Catholic community—things like:

  • Faith formation and youth programs
  • Seminarian education and clergy support
  • Outreach ministries (e.g., hospital, prison, refugee support)
  • Administrative services that help parishes run smoothly

Where We Stand (as of June 3rd):

  • Sacred Heart – Donors: 41 Raised: $24,997 Goal: $22,186 Status: ✅ Goal Reached!
  • Our Lady of Fatima – Donors: 202 Raised: $72,344 Goal: $88,299 Status: In Progress
  • St. Anne – Donors: 93 Raised: $41,550 Goal: $103,380 Status: In Progress

What is the ACA Rebate Project?

The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) supports essential ministries across the Archdiocese. Once a parish reaches its goal, every dollar beyond that is returned as a rebate—to fund local projects that directly benefit our parish communities.

This Year’s Rebate Projects:

Sacred Heart of Jesus: Installing sanctuary railings to support our Redemptorists and presiding priests.

Our Lady of Fatima: Covering the $50,000+ boiler repair—we’re still working toward full funding!

St. Anne: Funding roof repairs—last year’s rebate plus this year’s will help keep our church safe and dry.

How You Can Help

Even if your parish hasn’t reached its goal yet, you can still make a difference:

Use the envelopes in the pews or mailed to your home

Or give online at: archseattle.org/giveaca

Be sure to select your parish when donating so your gift counts toward your parish’s goal and rebate project!

Let’s keep the momentum going—every gift counts and brings us closer to completing these important projects.

Thank you for being a part of this mission!
