Parish Life

Dear Parishioners, dear Friends,

As I look around our parish family, it feels like a season of growth. Do you feel it too?

The roses are blooming in the church garden—and in our community, I see people blooming as well.

New sacristans are stepping into service.

Support for the homebound is growing.

Teachers are being celebrated.

Parents, children, and neighbors are facing life’s challenges with quiet courage.

If we pay attention, we can see what helps people grow—what gives them strength, what grounds them, what brings them peace. And often, we see how many in our parish offer that to others.

Growth can be nurtured, but never forced. It takes time—in nature, and in us.

Some seasons are full of blossoms. Others are slower, quieter, hidden. But all are part of the journey. So let’s be gentle with ourselves. Let’s be patient—with our own growth, and with each other’s. God is not in a hurry. He walks with us, step by step, loving us through every season. May we learn to trust that.

And may we celebrate the small, steady signs of life that remind us: we are growing.

Sixth Sunday of Easter: A Dwelling Place of Peace

“We will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” — John 14:23

As Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure, He offers a promise deeper than presence: “We will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” The Risen Christ doesn’t simply visit—He abides. Jesus makes His home in us.

This indwelling is the source of our peace. “Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you,” Jesus says—not as the world gives, but as only God can give. It is a peace rooted in love, strengthened by trust, and undisturbed by fear.

The Resurrection is not only the defeat of death—it is the beginning of a new life, lived in communion with God. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, we are reminded that heaven is not far away. God draws near. He desires to live in us.

Pope Francis says, “The peace of the Risen Lord is the gift that overcomes fear and opens the heart to joy.” As disciples, we are invited to live as dwelling places of this peace—open to God, and open to others.

Let our hearts be homes for Christ. Let our families, our parishes, and our communities become places where the peace of Easter reigns and where hope takes root and grows.

Facilities at Our Lady of Fatima

Dear Parishioners,

Thankfully, the boiler has, with a few minor tweaks, been humming along very nicely.

Our sound vendor came and removed the speaker tower system closest to the Tabernacle to address the persistent “gallop” and hissing noise.

Fortunately, they were able to resolve the problem at their shop after about a week of electronic troubleshooting (a.k.a. alchemy/wizardry) and discovered a defective component in the power supply of one of the speakers. They replaced the component without having to send the entire unit back to the manufacturer—a considerable saving in both time and money.

Levi Romero did an excellent job staining both sides of the Rectory fence while we had good weather. This was neither a small nor quick task, but it was great to complete the project in-house!

Summer projects for the school are mostly focused on maintenance and cleaning this year, but will also include refreshing the two bathrooms near the Library and Primary School classrooms.

Facilities at Sacred Heart of Jesus & St. Anne

Dear Parishioners,

At Sacred Heart of Jesus:

  • – We are addressing some minor graffiti on the wall at the entrance of the church.

At St. Anne:

  • – A crash bar mechanism at the school and another at the church parking lot entrance have malfunctioned. Once the replacement parts arrive, both will be repaired.
  • – Deep cleaning of Banchero Hall has been completed, which will help maintain the longevity of the flooring.
  • – The St. Francis Garden stone bench and new wooden benches have been installed. Many thanks to Bill Trettenero for his hard work in assembling and installing these new additions.
  • – The final elements of the heating system upgrade have been completed, resulting in better and more consistent heating throughout the building.
  • – A minor leak in the baptismal drain valve has been fixed, so it should now maintain its water level more consistently.

Director of Operations for Sacred Heart of Jesus & St. Anne

Indulgences - During the Jubilee Year of Hope

During this Jubilee Year of Hope, the Church offers special plenary indulgences as a tangible expression of God’s grace and mercy. By fulfilling certain conditions, such as passing through a Holy Door, going to confession, receiving the Eucharist, and praying for the Holy Father’s intentions, we can receive the remission of temporal punishment for sins.

Pope Francis, in Spes Non Confundit, reflects on the transformative power of God’s grace: “Hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Romans 5:5).

Please Note

  • – Ed Foster, Director of Property and Construction at the Archdiocese, will be joining us as the ACA witness speaker at the Masses on May 25 — 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima and 11:00 AM at St. Anne’s.
  • – The parish family offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
  • – Please note there will be no Coffee & Donuts at Our Lady of Fatima this Sunday.
