Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed

Bulletin for Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, & St. Anne

A Prayer for the Dead

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command, we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

While we are currently focusing on stewardship of treasure, it is important not to lose sight of the broader meaning and implications of stewardship on our lives as Christians. To aid your reflection on stewardship, we offer these eight fundamental beliefs. (Adapted from St. Francis Xavier Church in Wichita, KS.)

  • 1. Everything we have received is a gift from God (i.e., life, love, health, talents, family, vocation, etc.), therefore we are called to develop and share our gifts sacrificially, generously, and proportionally.
  • 2. Stewardship is primarily about faith. It is an invitation by God for the faithful in each parish to grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • 3. Stewardship is a spirituality that builds a way of life, expressed not in a single action or even in a number of actions but in an entire way of life. It is a commitment of one’s total self to the Lord.
  • 4. Stewardship is characterized by hospitality, prayer, formation, and service.
  • 5. Our bishop, pastors, and parish leaders have a crucial responsibility to live stewardship and motivate the faithful to follow their lead in order for stewardship to be a spirituality that builds a way of life.
  • 6. Stewardship should be integrated into all aspects of parish and diocesan mission and ministry.
  • 7. The universal Church, including parish and diocesan missions, should be supported primarily by the generous, sacrificial, and proportionate sharing of time, talent, and treasure of parishioners to their parish.
  • 8. We are called in scripture to return to God the first of our fruits, through our tithe.

Please prayerfully consider making a financial commitment to support our parish. Even a modest recurring gift helps sustain our ministries, care for our facilities, and support those who come to us for help. When used according to God’s will, our financial means can be a sort of prayer, one that demonstrates our love and gratitude to God and our trust in His plan for our lives. Our spending habits are also a reflection of who and what we truly love, and God asks us to love Him above all else.

It’s easy to make your stewardship of treasure gift to our parish. Follow the links here to access the online giving page for each parish:

For all those who have died, we pray.

During the month of November, we remember those who have died. Each parish will have a Book of the Dead on display where you may write the names of those who have died and for whom you wish the community to pray.

St. Anne will also host a Table of Remembrance. ALL members of the parish family are invited to place pictures of their loved ones who have died on the table and to light an electric votive candle. The table will be under the crucifix, near the Baptismal font, starting on All Souls Day, Saturday, November 2nd; it will remain on display until Advent.

A Special Blessing for Veterans

All veterans are invited to wear military attire (uniform, hat, pin, shirt, etc.) to weekend Masses on November 8 & 9. A special blessing will be said for them at the end of Mass.

At Our Lady of Fatima, after the 9AM Mass, there will be a reception for veterans, their families, and parishioners. We will have cake and punch. Also, because this is the 50th Year Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, Bob Dela-Cruz is organizing and presenting the Congress-approved Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin to veterans who served anytime from 1955 to 1975. It is not required that they actually fought in Vietnam. At the reception, there will have cards which the Vietnam era veteran can fill out which we will use for the presentation: Name, Branch of Service, and if the person fought in Vietnam, how many tours. Also, family members of Vietnam Era veterans can receive the lapel pin on the behalf of the veteran if they are not available or if they are deceased. This is OPEN to ALL parishioners across the parish family.
If you have any questions, please contact Bob Dela-Cruz at rhbdc915@yahoo.com or 206-353-4122.

St. Vincent de Paul Society--Bundle Sunday--THANK YOU!

Thank You for Stuffing the Truck at Our Lady of Fatima!
Not even the wind and rain could dampen the spirit of giving! Nearly 50 parishioners and community members contributed their gently used items to make last Sunday’s event a tremendous success. The truck returned to the St. Vincent de Paul warehouse filled with quality merchandise to help restock the thrift store shelves.
Sales from these items support the many programs operated by the Seattle-King County Council of St. Vincent de Paul. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those served by the organization.

We look forward to seeing you at our spring donation drive!
