30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Bulletin for Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, & St. Anne

“We are companions on the journey,
Breaking Bread and sharing life;
And in the love we bear is the hope we share
for we believe in the love of our God,
We believe in the love of our God.

No longer strangers to each other,
No longer strangers in God’s House;
We are fed and we are nourished
by the strength of those who care,
By the strength of those who care.

We have been gifted each other,
And we are called by the Word of the Lord:
To act with justice, to love tenderly
And to walk humbly with our God,
To walk humbly with our God.”

Lyrics from “Companions on the Journey” by Carey Landry

This week of stewardship, we invite you to reflect on the idea that God has called us to be stewards of His church. If we think of how God formed all of creation without the help of humans, we understand that He could do the work of His church on his own. Yet, He has asked us to be stewards, because it is what we need to grow in our faith. Jesus, His son, could have established a Church on His own; but instead, He chose to invite disciples to be stewards and share the work of the Church. Jesus constantly invites us to imitate Him in the work of the Church, to grow our parish and continue its vital ministries, to remain a place of creativity and a beacon of His hope. How will you respond to Christ’s invitation to live out your stewardship?

Please prayerfully consider making a financial commitment to support our parish. Even a modest recurring gift helps sustain our ministries, care for our facilities, and support those who come to us for help. When used according to God’s will, our financial means can be a sort of prayer, one that demonstrates our love and gratitude to God and our trust in His plan for our lives. Our spending habits are also a reflection of who and what we truly love, and God asks us to love Him above all else.

It’s easy to make your stewardship of treasure gift to our parish. Follow the links here to access the online giving page for each parish:

New Parochial Vicar to Join Our Parish Family

We are excited to announce the appointment of Fr. Kitema (Kih-teh-mah) as our new Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor).

Born and raised in Machakos County, rural Kenya, East Africa, Fr. Kitema is the fourth of eleven children. His journey to the priesthood began in 2001 at St. Mary’s Seminary in Nakuru, Kenya. After completing studies in both Philosophy and Theology, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Malindi on July 4, 2009.

Father’s ministry assignments have included serving in the Diocese of Malindi as Associate Pastor at St. Joseph’s Parish and later at St. Anthony Cathedral, where he also worked as the Diocese Finance Administrator. He has also served as Caritas Director and as Director of the Pope Francis Rescue Home, a ministry dedicated to supporting sexually abused minors.

In 2022, Fr. Kitema came to the United States to pursue graduate studies at Saint Louis University in Missouri, where he earned a Master’s in Leadership and Organizational Development in July 2024. Since January of this year, Father has been helping in Grays Harbor and Tacoma. In his free time, he enjoys music, walking, and meeting new friends.

We are delighted to announce that Father Kitema will officially begin his ministry as our new Parochial Vicar on Saturday, November 1st. He prefers to be addressed simply as “Father Kitema” and will reside with Fr. Freitag at the rectory of Our Lady of Fatima.

Please join us in offering a warm welcome to Fr. Kitema as he begins his priestly ministry among us!

During the month of November, we remember those who have died. Each parish will have a Book of the Dead on display where you may write the names of those who have died and for whom you wish the community to pray.

St. Anne will also host a Table of Remembrance. ALL members of the parish family are invited to place pictures of their loved ones who have died on the table and to light an electric votive candle. The table will be under the crucifix, near the Baptismal font, starting on All Souls Day, Saturday, November 2nd; it will remain on display until Advent.
