27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Bulletin for Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, & St. Anne

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

The Annual Report for the Parish Family is now available. There are paper copies in all the churches, and a pdf is linked here. The report contains a wealth of information about all that has been accomplished this past year and about current finances. If you have questions on the financial information, there is also more insight in the September Finance Spotlight from Brigid McMahan. Thank you for taking the time to read this important report. A special THANK YOU to Moya Laigo for her volunteer support in design and layout!

PARTNERS IN THE GOSPEL

Synodal Listening Session: “What Are Our Gifts?”

The Synodal Listening Sessions begin this weekend! This is a very important part of the process in our work toward implementing the One Parish Plan. The Parish Family Advisory Council appreciates and wants to hear from each and every one of our parishioners, and we urge you to come participate. Our Parish Family will grow together strongly when built on prayerful listening.

The “What Are Our Gifts?” listening sessions will be held at each parish. We ask that—if possible—you attend the session at your home parish and that you RSVP so that we can staff the sessions accordingly. In preparation for the listening session, please prayerfully consider the following:

  • How have your experiences in our parish brought you closer to God?
  • What has been the spiritual impact of your participation in our parish?
  • If you had to describe the main gifts and charisms of our parish to a newcomer in one sentence, what would you say?
  • What is your favorite part about being a parishioner?
  • What stands out to you as something to be proud of?

The Listening Session at Sacred Heart will take place on Sunday, October 5, from 11:15AM to 12:45PM, in the Parish Basement. Please RSVP through this link.

The Listening Session at St. Anne will take place on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, in the Narthex. Please RSVP through this link.

The Listening Session at Our Lady of Fatima will take place on Thursday, October 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, in the Parish Center. Please RSVP through this link.

Call to Serve through Liturgical Ministry

Across the parish family, we are asking for more parishioners to step into the vital work of liturgical ministry. There is a diversity of opportunities through which to serve. Each ministry is essential to the celebration of Mass and offers a meaningful way to deepen your faith and support our parish community. Please prayerfully consider how you might be called to serve. All positions are open! Extend a personal invitation and ask a friend how they plan to serve!

Sacred Heart of Jesus also asks for altar servers and for basic help with cleaning and preparing the church for Mass. Adults can serve as altar servers too! Call the parish office or email parishoffice@sacredheartseattle.org. Trainings are to be determined or will happen on an individual basis.

Our Lady of Fatima also asks for hospitality ministers, altar servers, and weekday sacristans. Call the parish office or email officemanager@olfatima.org. Trainings are to be determined or will happen on an individual basis.

St. Anne especially needs sacristans, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lectors, ushers/greeters, and those willing to help with cleaning the altar linens. House of Prayer

If you have never stepped through this door, consider this your invitation. Located on 1st Ave W between Lee and Comstock, the House of Prayer is a resource available to all Northwest Seattle Catholic parishioners. The building was originally constructed in 1910 as the convent for the Holy Name Sisters, but it is now named the House of Prayer. There are two sitting rooms for quiet reflection and at the heart of the house is the Adoration Chapel, the only one in Seattle with 24-hour access. The interior, with its stain glassed windows and original pews make it a warm and welcoming place for prayer. There are rosaries, prayer books, and information sheets in the chapel for your use. The light is always on.

Access is provided upon request. Use this link to register or call the St. Anne Parish office.
