26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Bulletin for Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima & St. Anne
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created,
and you shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray.
O God, who have taught the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PARTNERS IN THE GOSPEL
Synodal Listening Session: “What Are Our Gifts?”
Please join us for a community listening session as we enter the next stage of Partners In The Gospel. Synodal listening sessions are an integral part of the discernment process as we learn more about our unique parish communities and work toward implementing the One Parish Plan.
The “What Are Our Gifts?” listening sessions will be held at each parish. We ask that—if possible—you attend the session at your home parish and that you RSVP so that we can staff the sessions accordingly. In preparation for the listening session, please prayerfully consider the following:
- How have your experiences in our parish brought you closer to God?
- What has been the spiritual impact of your participation in our parish?
- If you had to describe the main gifts and charisms of our parish to a newcomer in one sentence, what would you say?
- What is your favorite part about being a parishioner?
- What stands out to you as something to be proud of?
The Listening Session at Sacred Heart will take place on Sunday, October 5, from 11:15AM to 12:45PM, in the Parish Basement. Please RSVP through this link.
The Listening Session at St. Anne will take place on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, in the Narthex. Please RSVP through this link.
The Listening Session at Our Lady of Fatima will take place on Thursday, October 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, in the Parish Center. Please RSVP through this link.
DEMOGRAPHICS and COMMUNICATIONS SURVEY
It is the last weekend to respond! The survey will be live until Monday, September 29.
In addition to the Listening Sessions, we are asking for your feedback through this online survey. The purpose is to collect information about our parish community to help us as we think about what ministries we offer, what the needs in our community are, and where there are opportunities to expand or start new ministries.
Follow this link to fill out the survey. If you do not have computer access to complete the survey, please call the parish office.
FACILITIES SPOTLIGHT
Our Lady of Fatima
The bathroom remodel in the school’s 1998 edition was completed just before school began and it turned out beautifully. Unfortunately, the mirror for the girls’ bathroom was broken during shipping and the replacement has not arrived yet, but it will be installed as soon as it arrives. The upgrade also included the installation of new high-capacity ventilation fans that have resolved the issue of inadequate air circulation.
Monitoring of the two circulating pumps at the church over the summer determined that both require bearing seal assemble replacements. Our HVAC vendor has ordered the necessary components, and the pumps will be repaired as soon as they arrive. It may be of interest to some, that the larger of the two pumps has been in continuous operation since 1967. We don’t have to replace it; it just needs to be repaired—they just don’t build them like they used to!
We suspended lawn care and grounds keeping services for the summer and are waiting for vendor proposal(s) for a more budget friendly maintenance routine. More to follow.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Hand railings have been installed on the Sacred Heart of Jesus sanctuary and altar. This will provide added security and safety to our parishioners.
St. Anne

West Annex roof: This summer replaced the roof on the west annex of the church because it was the area in most urgent need. The next roofing projects will be the flat roofs over the rectory/sacristy and assembly room.
At St. Anne School, the annual cleaning of windows and carpets was completed over the summer.
Trees have been pruned around the grounds of the school and the church. In addition, a tree in the parking lot was removed as it posed a risk of future injury or damage.

Liturgical Ministry Trainings
St. Anne needs more parishioners to step into the vital work of liturgical ministry. There is a diversity of opportunities through which to serve; we especially need sacristans, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lectors, ushers/greeters, and those willing to help with cleaning the altar linens. Each ministry is essential to the celebration of Mass and offers a meaningful way to deepen your faith and support our parish community.
October trainings will be held at St. Anne in the Church.
- –Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Tuesday, October 7, 7–8:30pm
- –Lectors: Tuesday, October 14, 7–8:30pm
- –Altar Servers: Wednesday, October 15, 2:15–3:15pm
- –Sacristans: Tuesday, October 21, 7–8:30pm
We encourage everyone to prayerfully consider how you might serve. Extend a personal invitation and ask a friend how they plan to serve! RSVP through this link.
House of Prayer
If you have never stepped through this door, consider this your invitation. Located on 1st Ave W between Lee and Comstock, the House of Prayer is a resource available to all Northwest Seattle Catholic parishioners. The building was originally constructed in 1910 as the convent for the Holy Name Sisters, but it is now named the House of Prayer. There are two sitting rooms for quiet reflection and at the heart of the house is the Adoration Chapel, the only one in Seattle with 24-hour access. The interior, with its stain glassed windows and original pews make it a warm and welcoming place for prayer. There are rosaries, prayer books, and information sheets in the chapel for your use. The light is always on.
Access is provided upon request. Use this link to register or call the St. Anne Parish office.
