Ministry Spotlight

St. Martin de Porres Food Program

We are going into our 19th year of supporting the men at the St Martin de Porres Shelter in the Sodo district. Over the years our generous volunteers have prepared, driven, and provided over 60,000 meals! Come join the ministry this fall on any designated Tuesday. If you’ve been looking for a simple, hands-on way to help others, we’d love to have you join us! Every meal we prepare for the men at St. Martin de Porres is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Here’s How You Can Help

  • What to Bring: 10 prepared lunches with “Hearty Protein” sandwiches (meats, cheeses) and extras such as chips, pickles, small cans of pop or water, snack bars, soft treats, instant soups and anything the men can eat the next day are all great to include.
  • When & Where: Drop off your items in the Our Lady of Fatima parking lot between 4:30–5:00 PM on scheduled Tuesdays. Our dedicated drivers load them into the OLF Parish bus and take them to St. Martin’s.
  • Flexible & Easy: Most folks help out once a month, but you can join in whenever it works for you.

Upcoming Volunteer Dates (on Tuesday, twice a month)

  • September 9 and 23
  • October 7 and 21
  • November 4 and 18
  • December 2 and 16
  • January 6 and 20
  • February 10 and 24
  • March 10 and 24

St. Vincent de Paul –Thank YOU!

Dear Partners in Charity with St. Vincent de Paul,

Neighbors, especially those new to the area, appreciate our referrals to trusted charitable organizations. We received this recent testimonial from a mother who was living in her car and fleeing domestic violence. She needed multiple financial pledges—including one from St. Vincent de Paul—to secure an Interbay apartment for her family. Once safely housed, she wrote: “Thank you so much for the resources you gave me. It’s because of you and your help that I knew who to contact. I had no idea there were places to help.”

We are grateful that this mother and her family received help; may she and her family continue to experience God’s presence in their lives. This is a wonderful reminder of the impact of our ministry in the lives of our neighbors.
