Parish Life

Dear Parish Family,

As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, we are reminded of the immense blessings and enduring value of Catholic education. Catholic schools are not just places of academic excellence but sanctuaries where faith and knowledge meet, forming young minds and hearts to know, love, and serve God.

The mission of Catholic education goes beyond imparting information; it strives to form the whole person—intellectually, spiritually, morally, and socially. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, Catholic schools provide students with a firm foundation in faith, preparing them to live lives of virtue and service in a world that desperately needs witnesses to the Gospel.

In Catholic schools, students are invited to encounter Christ daily through prayer, the sacraments, and lessons that integrate faith into every subject. This unique approach fosters a deep sense of purpose, as students learn that their talents and education are gifts to be shared in service to others.

Catholic education also nurtures a strong sense of community. Our parish schools of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Anne partner with families to create an environment where every child feels loved, valued, and encouraged to grow in holiness. Our communities inspire students to develop compassion, integrity, and leadership, enabling them to contribute positively to the Church and society.

As we reflect on the gift of Catholic education, let us pray for our parish schools, teachers, and students, and support their mission to form the next generation of faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Together, we can ensure that this legacy of faith and learning continues for generations to come.

In Christ,

Fr. Freitag

Facility Spotlight

Dear Parishioners,

Thank you for making me feel welcome at Sacred Heart of Jesus and St Anne Parishes, it has been a pleasure meeting many of you over the past few months and I am looking forward to meeting more of you in the coming months. I am growing in my understanding of the immediate and long-term needs of each parish.

  • – At the end of November work on the church doors and the replacement for the keycard system at St. Anne began. As parts are still enroute, the system is not active yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to bring this project to completion.
  • – The 2 dead electrical outlets in the St Anne assembly room have been repaired and the refrigerators are now working.
  • – Annual boiler inspection and tune up have been completed at both St. Anne Parish and School.
  • – The heating system for the vestibule at Sacred Heart of Jesus has been repaired. We will be doing additional maintenance on boiler for the sanctuary with a view to increase its reliability.
  • – At Sacred Heart of Jesus an extra keypad entry has been added to facilitate travel from the rectory to the church.
  • – Thank you to all the volunteers at both Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Anne who helped to decorate our parishes for the Christmas season.

Finance Spotlight

I apologize for missing the finance spotlight for Sacred Heart and St. Anne in our last online newsletter. This was my oversight. Please take a moment to read Brigid’s timely message.

St. Vincent de Paul

At Our Lady of Fatima:

An Unexpected Exchange: After a neighbor’s hours were reduced at work, she reached out for help and identified clothes for her daughter as her biggest concern. Wanting to give in return, she offered us the clothes her daughter had outgrown. Thank you for the opportunity to meet this mother who showed such thoughtfulness in her own time of need.

A Look Back at 2024: Your generous financial support allowed us to provide $24,000 in financial assistance to over 120 neighbors living in Magnolia and part of Interbay. A majority of your donations were used to respond to requests for help with rent, utilities, and food.

At St. Anne:

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, a total of 33 gift cards (Trader Joe’s, Fred Meyer and Safeway) and 120 First Class postage stamps were donated to St. Vincent de Paul through the St. Anne Giving Tree. Your kindness makes a big difference!
