PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

August 31, Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

May all Christian people find the courage to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Jesus in faith.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

For countries and nations to establish policies and institutions that create decent jobs, pay just wages, and support family formation and stability that help honor the dignity of workers.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

For those who are hungry:  Help us to be the answer to their prayers.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

May we use our energy - not to resist your call in our lives - but to answer that call which can become our joy.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

May the grace you give us this week transform us by the renewal of our minds and hearts toward you.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

For all those who are sick especially Doug and Sandra Dow, parents of Barbara Shields, Fred Kilmer, husband of Crystal; Michael Saeger, brother-in-law of Cristal Kilmer; and for Rena and Danny Sarunich, parents of Danella Anderson.  Also, we pray for those who have died, including Tom Madden.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.

For the prayers which are written in the Parish Book of Intercessions and those we hold in the silence of our hearts.  Lord, fire in our hearts, we pray.
