August 9 ~ Ninteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

+ May the Church, wherever she is persecuted, be protected and strengthened.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ May our hearts be softened so that we may see the social injustices in our country and around the world, and may Your Holy Spirit ignite our hearts to act for justice.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ May all those who serve our country in the armed forces and as first responders in our communities, be blest, strengthened and kept out of harm's way.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ St. Paul warns us that through our hardness of heart we can stifle the Holy Spirit working through us.  Help us, therefore, to always be kind, compassionate, forgiving and loving.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ May we remember that all sustenance and nourishment for the fullness of life comes from You.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ For the grace this week to remove from our lives all bitterness, anger and malice.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ For all those who are sick, especially Terry Casey.  Also, we pray for those who have died including Barry Tobin, and Esther Walsh, mother of Mary Ellen Kennedy.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.

+ In thankfulness for all that is written in our Parish Book of Thanksgiving.  We pray also for the intentions written in the Parish Book of Intercessions and those we hold in the silence of our hearts.  Jesus, bread of heaven, we pray.
