August 21 ~ Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

That the Church will act as mediator in problems affecting peace, social harmony, the defense of life, and human and civil rights.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

We pray for the people of Louisiana and all others around the world whose lives have been devastated by unprecedented floods and other disasters.  Comfort and protect all those affected in their time of need.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

Help us to remember that everything in our lives is gift - even what we most fear - for you can use even that for our growth and for the good of the world.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

Quicken our hearts, oh Lord, as we participate in the backpack project sponsored by the Queen Anne Interfaith Ministries.  Help us to think, with love, of each individual child who will be able to start the school year with their own backpack and school supplies like everyone else  Help us to be generous in this cause which gives life to your little ones.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

For the grace to be able to endure our trials with confidence in you.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

For all those who are sick especially Joan Lord; Mike Finn; and Chris Hurley.  Also, we pray for those who have died including Bill Cheshier.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.

In thankfulness for all that is written in our Parish Book of Thanksgiving.  We pray also for the intentions written in the Parish Book of Intercessions and those we hold in the silence of our hearts.  Lord, light of the world, we pray.
